Day Two

Well, I couldn't blog last night. Yesterday morning we went to the Kirtland Visitors Center. While there AJ asked if Sister Knowles was there by chance and just as he finished asking she walked in the door with her companion on their way to a district meeting. For any 9th Ward members reading this (she is from our Singles Ward) Sarah is doing great and loving her mission. It was so good to see her.
A missionary couple took us on a tour of the Kirtland Village. On the second floor of the store was where the School of the Prophets met. The Spirit was very strong there. One interesting tidbit was in the Whitney home in the sitting room was a courting candle. So if they parents liked the gentlemen caller they would put more wick in. If not, it would burn out sooner. We then drove about 30 miles to the John Johnson Farm. Bro. and Sister Cluff were the missionary couple and the Johnsons were her great-grandparents. They only have two weeks left there serving. It truly was a remarkable experience to have her share with us about her heritage. We then
drove back to the Kirtland Temple which is run by the Community of Christ Church. There just was something missing there. Their presentation lacked and the Spirit was not there. But it was very interesting. We then took off toward Niagara Falls. We drove for awhile stopping to eat dinner. We arrived in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada around 9 p.m. We were up on the 21st Floor of the Hilton (they don't have wifi in your room unless you want to pay) hence why I didn't post. Our room had a window overlooking the United States side of the falls. They have a light show - it was really good.

Our Trip

Today is the first day of OUR TRIP. We arrived in Cleveland, OH around 4 p.m. The turbulence out of Salt Lake was really bad -- I thought I was going to throw up - if felt like being on a roller coaster ride. Anyway we made it here and are ready to visit Kirtland tomorrow.

BYUtiful Day

Need I say more. BYU Rocks!!!! BYU 44 Wyoming 0. On KSL they said that the last time BYU had back to back blowouts was in 1985. BYU beat Wyoming 59 - 0 and the next week beat USU 44 - 0. The exact same scores as this year 2008. Way to go Cougars.

GOOOOOOOO COUGARS!!!!!

Just had to post the score. BYU 59 UCLA 0. It was a great game especially after last weeks controversial ending at Washington. BYU Cougars are for real. I put it on KSL 1160 to hear them call the game while watching it on TV. They were slightly ahead of the plays on TV which was great for me and my nerves.

Ward Outing

Last night we went up to Millcreek Canyon for a cookout. We had hamburgers, hotdogs and of course, Smores. We had about 30 kids come. Driving up the canyon the temperature dropped 10 degrees - it was great to put our hoodies on, eat and sit around the campfire. Fall is definitely in the air.

Miniature Golfing

For FHE on Monday night the singles ward went Minature Golfing. We've done it the last two years. Since we didn't get as good a turnout as we thought we would the leaders decided to try it also. I can't remember the last time I've done this. But it was fun. We were with Sherry and Sherm. The only bad thing was we were there till after dark and I came home with 15 mosquito bites. They're small ones so haven't really bothered me. I'm just such a sweet person I guess.

Happy First Birthday Elsie

On Saturday we celebrated Elsie's first birthday at the neigbhorhood park. We had Court's family and ours there minus Megan, Tyler and Judson. We had lunch that Krin made and then watched Elsie with Krin's help open her presents and then we sang Happy Birthday and watched her dig into her cake.

Go Cougars!!!!

I can't believe its college football season already! I love football and especially BYU. Tomorrow is their first game of the season. When I attended BYU I never missed a game I would wait in line for hours for them to pass out the tickets. After I graduated and worked on campus I bought tickets. I have a big mouth so I'm sure the people around were annoyed, but I loved it.
My family is torn between BYU and Utah because Tara graduated from the U of U and so did Tyler. I will watch the Utah games when its not the same time as BYU. The past two years have been exciting when BYU and UTAH have played against each other. And then when BYU wins I get to rub it in - to Cory.

RISE AND SHOUT, THE COUGARS ARE OUT, ALONG THE TRAIL TO FAME AND GLORY....

Bear Lake

Last weekend we went to Bear Lake with our Singles Ward. Oh, they absolutely had a wonderful time and we had a great turnout about 70 kids showed up between the two days. The weather was really nice. We stayed in a really neat lodge. They took an old store and turned it into a lodge. The basement was the game room and theater room, then the main floor had a master suite, kitchen & eating area and living area, and upstairs was all the bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. Our activity girls made the guys sleep outside except they caved in and let some sleep downstairs, cause it was cold at night. What they didn't realize was AJ and I were in the master suite and some decided to stay up til 3:30 in the morning so that's basically when we fell asleep. Even with my earplugs I could hear them.

Home Sweet Home

Well, Megan, Tyler and Judson are now home. It was so much fun to have them here. We were able to do a lot of things together especially the first week. Little did we realize last Sunday when we had everyone over that that was our goodbye. That night AJ, me and my sister who was visiting all got sick either food poisioning or the stomach flu. So we didn't want them to be near us. So on Tuesday before they left they just came to the front of our house and we said goodbye to them. I'm so glad they didn't get sick - we have been sick all week - today is our first real day of being totally back to normal. They have already booked their flight here for Christmas - so I'm looking forward to then.

Surprise!!!!

Tyler gave Megan a surprise birthday party while they were here. He went to his home and made brownies and bought ice cream, and so I made hot fudge sauce. He invited her old friends and they came over and hid out in our basement and waited for him to bring her here. She was totally surprised when she walked through the door. I know she really enjoyed the evening and
I did too cause I got see all of her old friends. Then on her birthday July 23, we all went out for dinner and came home for dessert.
