Carter's Birthday Party

Carter's birthday is July 1st.  He always chooses to have a swim party at our place.  It was a hot evening for his party which was great.  They had so much fun swimming and enjoying hot dogs and Carter's Batman Cake. They were having so much fun that Tara texted all the moms to see if they could stay longer so the party went from 6 to 9 pm.  So much fun.

Mother's Day

We had a lovely mother's day celebration.  We got to enjoy being outdoors and eating outside.  AJ wrote a poem for me.  Here it is:

A few words of my own
A mother's day note
To express how I feel
Something I wrote

It's been a few years
Since we walked down the isle
And some things have changed
Each day with a smile

They go by so fast
They carry us on
But what is behind
Is the treasure we won

May the mother you were
or the grandma you are
Continue to shine
Like the star that you are.
Love - AJ

Grandkids Fieldtrip

On Thursday, May 9th we decided to have the grandkids sleepover so we could get up and get on our way for our fieldtrip up to the Golden Spike National Historic Site.  It was a fee-free day (the anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad.)  What some dubbed "the Mountain Wedding" really started off as more of a shotgun wedding. Knowing the Importance of the completion of a single railroad line between the eastern and western United States, Congress forced the two competing ralroads into a marriage of national convenience.  We thought the program started at 11:00 but actually not until 11:30 and the reinactment doesn't start until 12:20 so it was a lot of sitting listening to speakers, and waiting, etc. (BORING for the kids)  by the time we got to the reinactment we stayed and watched the two trains come together and little bit more but the kids had had enough. We went through the museum and then left and stopped at the city of Corinne at a park and ate lunch and played on their playarea which was fun because they had the old fashioned merry-go-rounds that the kids loved playing on.  After that we made another stop at Smith and Edwards...I could have stayed there a lot longer....we intended to go to this baby animal exhibit in Kaysville, but it was so crowded we stopped at another park to wait for Court, because he was picking up Elsie to take her to Malad. So after we met up with Court we came home and went swimming (I had been warming up the pool all week so it was a nice toasty 88 degrees)  THAT was the best part of the whole day.  We got pizza and ate that and then headed out to Carter's soccer game.  When that was done we took Judson home.  They might not have been tired, but WE were.....we're getting old.

Ava's Kindergarten Program

On May 2nd was Ava's kindergarten program.  Each child walks across the stage several times modeling an outfit describing what they want to be when they grow up.  Ava chose a gymnast.  Then the whole class sang some songs.  It was a very cute program.

Ava didn't want Cory in the picture.  She is so embarrassed by his beard.  In fact, their is a daddy/daughter party at the end of May and won't let Cory come if he still has a beard.  Luckily, Cory has been in one of the Bible Videos this last week and will go down again to Goshen and be in one more and then he will be able to shave off the dreaded beard so Ava will then allow him to go to the party.
                           Gotcha.....

AJ Turns the BIG 60!

We celebrated the April birthdays the week before AJ's actual day because my sister had come for a visit our grandkids.

His real birthday celebration.  Previously I had bought  AJ, Cory, Court and Tyler passes for 18 holes of golf at Thanksgiving Point so that is what they did the majority of the day.  Then they came home for a yummy birthday dinner.  I actually put the big sign on the garage door.
Krin decorated with the cute 60th birthday signs...
Our yummy lasagna, sarah salad, breadstick, punch.....
                  Blowing out his candles.....

                             AJ with all the grandkids....

Carter's Drum Recital

On April 13, Carter had his drum recital at a place called the Music Garage.  The song he played was Madness by the Muse.  Tara's cousin Aaron is his teacher and is in a group called Fictionist.

It was really good.  He did a great job!
